NEW YORK, [August 28, 2006] – Window Media today announced the appointment of William Kapfer to vice president of marketing. Kapfer is charged with developing and leading strategy and execution for the nation’s largest gay publishing network. Among his other responsibilities, Kapfer oversees the marketing efforts of publications and on-line efforts in DC, Atlanta, Southern Florida and Houston. In addition, he oversees these same functions for GENRE Magazine.

As Fort Lauderdale continues to be the fastest growing gay market in the country, Express South Florida and 411 have continued to maintain the number one slot in their categories. GENRE Magazine, surpassed all 2005 projections on the newsstand—rising head-and-shoulders above those in its competitive set with an average sell through of over 40%.”
Because of developments like these, and new projects on the horizon, such as the anticipated redesign and launch of the Houston Voice and its interactive website in September, Kapfer believes that, “there is no better time to be part of such a growing family of community focused publications.”
Kapfer brings a wealth of expertise to the role having, most recently served as Executive Director of Marketing for Window Media with past leadership positions in such blue chip brands as Travel + Leisure and Harper’s Bazaar. He began his career in the publicity department of Miramax films and in the newsroom at the MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour. He holds degrees from the University of Arizona and Northern Arizona University and is based in New York City.
